Creating My Own Space
Ahhhh….freedom! Am I alone when I say I sometimes feel stifled online? There are so many platforms that allow us to share but within a “controlled” environment. I understand the need for guidelines to exist but I have to admit that I often get stuck between two worlds that I find often collide within the social sharing space. There is one side that uses social platforms in a personal way to connect or check in with their base (family, friends, schoolmates, colleagues) and the other side who utilizes the platform more commercially, to share and sell ideas, products, business or opportunities.
What happens to those in the middle?
I can’t speak for everyone. I’ve never fit perfectly into the two models I mentioned above and I’m sure many others feel the same way. I dabble between the two but often feel conflicted for not choosing one over the other. I suppose it has a lot to do with conforming to someone else’s standards instead of my own, which is what led me here. Figuring out my own voice amongst others!
I’m an advocate for story sharing! I’ve always loved libraries. They’re a complilation of various texts, philosophies, and so much more that come together for a common purpose under one roof. The same is true for the internet. Everyone has a preference and with the ease of creating your own page you can build a collection that speaks to you and possible others who share your common interests.
This is one of the concepts for creating my own space. Think of TheChitChat as a collective of material that I source from my websurfing travels that mixed with my own style to bring you something (hopefully) worth chatting about :)
There’s a lot more emphasis these days on well-being. My interpretation of that now thanks to convos with my sister is a very simple word: Happiness. When you’re happy within yourself, and I mean truly, it’s much easier to focus on the factors that contribute to wellness and although the journey to getting there is different for each individual, my overall intention is to show you how I am actively seeking to do the same.
I hope that if you’ve been struggling with this, you feel welcome to take a seat with me as we figure out how to carve out our own individual space that leads to more happiness for us all ☺
